Sundials
This type of sundial can be made from two bicycle rims and two spokes. We sell a kit that you can make your own dial. The rims are bolted together to form a hollow sphere. One rim will be vertical and the other will be equatorial (lined up with the celestial equator). The spoke (gnomon) strung across the vertical rim at your co-latitude (90 degrees - your latitude) will cast a shadow on the equatorial ring for the time.
